Link the accelerator pedal to the carburetor throttle with the Pioneer Carburetor Accelerator Cable CA-8415. It is a direct-fit replacement for the listed applications, including the 1979-1981 Chrysler LeBaron, 1979-1980 Dodge Aspen, 1979-1981 and 1983 Dodge Diplomat, 1980-1983 Dodge Mirada, 1980 Plymouth Volare, 1981-1983 Chrysler Cordoba and 1983 Chrysler Fifth Avenue. See the Buyer’s Guide tab for engine details and the full application list.
The accelerator cable links the pedal to the carburetor throttle linkage. Pressing the pedal pulls the cable to open the throttle, and releasing it lets the throttle close back toward idle. Pioneer builds its cables as a quality replacement alternative:
- Built to OE specs: manufactured to original-equipment specifications.
- Steel inner cable: a durable steel core transmits pedal movement to the carburetor.
- Polymer outer housing: shields the inner cable from corrosion and abrasion.
- Hardware varies by application: Pioneer notes that its cables often come with common brackets, grommets and ends where the application calls for them.
Signs this cable may need replacing include a sticking or stiff pedal, a throttle that is slow to return to idle, and a frayed, kinked or stretched cable. Diagnose the cause before you replace the part, because linkage or carburetor problems can produce similar symptoms.
