Fine-tune starter alignment with the Dorman starter motor shim set, part number 678-211. It fits many vehicles, among them the 1988-1995 Chevrolet C1500 (including V6-4.3L, V8-5.0L and V8-5.7L engines), the 1997-1999 Chevrolet K1500 and the 1982-1985 Chevrolet Impala. A starter that sits out of alignment may not mesh with the engine as intended. When improper alignment is the cause, shimming helps stop whining and/or grinding noises from the starter motor.
- Three thicknesses per set: one 1/64 in (0.0156 in), one 3/64 in (0.047 in) and one 1/16 in (0.0625 in) shim for adjusting the starter’s spacing.
